ERUTAN®, a breakthrough...an all-natural carpet with multiple lives
For decades one attempts to find solutions for the reuse of kilometers of discarded carpets. The biggest problem is that the surface pile and backing of carpets consist of different non-renewable oil-based raw materials. Reuse of these materials is a challenge but due to the bonding method recycling is not optimal that is why most of the carpets are burnt in incinerators.
ERUTAN® (a joint venture of three Dutch companies) has come up with a method to make wool carpets from all-natural materials that can be re-processed after the carpet is used. The biological cycle has been closed for 100%. ERUTAN® is a breakthrough, which also forms the basis for the development of other products.
